Mimosa Elementary School

Adopted by the good people from:

Bartee Lamar, CVO

Since the 2016-2017 school year, I have served as a volunteer in our first ever elementary school woodworking club.  Now in my 3rd year, I serve as the Chief Volunteer of Operations responsible for all aspects of the Young Apprentice Construction Club at Mimosa Elementary School.  After  45 years in corporate America information technology, I retired in 2015 knowing that I wanted to serve others.  Starting in my father’s woodworking shop I have been a life long hobby woodworker.  In retirement, I recognized how many young people were not getting to experience the accomplishment of building projects with their own hands.  My personal favorite in our year-long club is to see the pride when each student completes their toolbox and take it home.  This is something that many will keep for a lifetime.  Simply put, we build toolboxes, a sense of pride and accomplishment, and personal character.

I’m honored to be working with a great team this year. Meet the rest of Team-MES:
