Volunteer Curriculum Instructor (VCI): Helen Borland
I was raised in Michigan but have resided in Georgia since 1982. My husband and I enjoy traveling, and because of his job have lived in Bangalore, India and Stockholm, Sweden. He is a long-distance bicycle rider and since 2018, I have been the SAG (supplies & gear) vehicle driver for trips from Seattle to Savannah (cross country), Calais, ME to Key West, FL (East Coast) and from Canada to Mexico (West Coast).
I am retired from teaching and have two adult children that live in the Atlanta area. My daughter owns an estate sale company and I spend a lot of time helping her prep for her sales. I do proofreading for an author and a religious magazine publisher. We have fostered dogs and cats for Ahimsa House for the last eight years. In addition to driving, I enjoy gardening, doing Sudoku, and meeting people.
As a volunteer, Toolbox lets me give service to my community, meet new “friends” and have the joy of working with students without grading papers!
